
Dylan Brewer drove in a career-high six runs on a pair of homers to lead Clemson past NC State 10-6, at Raleigh, Friday. Brewer put the Tigers (13-10, 7-6) out front with a two-run homer in the top of the first before adding an opposite-field grand slam in the fifth. Brewer’s second long ball tied the game, 6-6. Alex Urban and Kier Meredith each added two-run singles in the eighth inning to secure Clemson’s fifth straight conference win.
Nick Clayton (4-0) picked up the victory after four scoreless innings in relief of Nick Hoffman.
Game 2 of the series is set for 7 p.m., Saturday. Lefthander Keyshawn Askew (0-0, 1.35) is set to take the mound for Clemson.
