
USC hit 3 home runs and 3 doubles as part of a 13 hit attack Tuesday night in defeating Gardner-Webb 9-4 at Founders Park. The Gamecocks have won six in a row and are 17-6 going into this weekend’s SEC series at Georgia. The win also breaks a two game losing streak to the Bulldogs.
Wes Clarke ripped his 14th homer of the season in the first, a three run shot to left, that put the Gamecocks up 4-0. George Callil hit a solo homer to left in the fifth, his first home run of the season, as the Gamecocks built the lead to 7-1. And Brady Allen uncorked his 6th homer of the season to left center in the seventh to make it a 9-2 game.
Jack Mahoney made his first career start and earned his first career win. He pitched the first four innings and allowed 1 run while scattering 5 hits. He struck out 6 and did not walk a batter. Five relievers finished up the win.
