Clemson will come off its second Covid shutdown Wednesday afternoon at Wake Forest. The Tigers haven not played since their win over Georgia Tech February 12th, their third straight win. Games at Notre Dame and Pittsburgh last week were postponed. The Tigers finally returned to practice on Saturday.
The first time this season Clemson had to pause due to the virus was in early January after putting together a four game winning streak. The Tigers defeated NC State and then had games at North Carolina and Syracuse postponed. They returned after an 11 day absence and were blown out at home by Virginia to start a three game losing streak.
Coach Brad Brownell knows, then, a restart off a Covid shutdown can be sluggish. Earlier this week on the ACC conference call he updated his team and discussed the difficulties in getting the players back to where they were before the stoppage.
