#Gamecocks unleash their power in season opening 12-1 win over Dayton (AUDIO)

Wes Clarke, who led the SEC in homers last season, opened the season with a three-run blast (Jeff Blake)

USC hit two home runs, including a grand slam, five doubles and two triples in pounding Dayton 12-1 in their 2021 debut at Founders Park. Andrew Eyster had the grand slam and one of the triples. Wes Clarke had the other homer, a three run shot, and one of the doubles.

Eyster, Clark and Brady Allen each had 3 hits and combined for 9 RBIs. Colin Burgess had the other three RBIs with a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly.

Thomas Farr started and earned the win scattering 5 hits over 6 innings and allowing 1 earned run. He struck out 8 and walked 2. Three relievers combined to allow 1 hit over the final three innings.

The teams are scheduled for single games Saturday and Sunday.
