The USC men’s basketball team is set to return to the court Saturday night at LSU after missing the last two games with Covid related issues. The Gamecocks last played January 6th when they defeated Texas A&M. They had to postpone games with Ole Miss and Tennessee after Covid hit the team for a second time this season. And for a second time, head coach Frank Martin has tested positive. He also tested positive in May.

Martin, assistant coach Chuck Martin, and staff member Franklin Edwards are all out with the virus. The number of playes impacted during this most recent shutdown was not revealed, but the Gamecocks did have 12-13 at practice this week. They expect to have enough healthy bodies to put a team on the floor Saturday night in Baton Rouge.

Assistant coach Bruce Shingler will run the team Saturday night in Martin’s absence.

Friday Martin and Shingler met with the media to address the issues hitting the team.
