
WR Derwin Burgess (5-11 177) of Riverdale, GA, who had been committed to USC since July and never publicly decommitted, signed Wednesday morning with Georgia Southern. At the time of his commitment, Burgess chose the Gamecocks over Georgia Tech, Indiana, Tennessee, Florida State and Coastal Carolina.
USC had recruited Burgess for an extended period going back to win Bryan McClendon was the receivers coach. As a junior he had 28 catches for 463 yards and 5 touchdowns.
With Burgess out of the class, the Gamecocks now have 10 commitments to sign this week or in February.
