USC fans can’t blame Saturday night’s 17-10 loss to Missouri at Williams-Brice Stadium on fired coach Will Muschamp (well, they still might). Or on a defense that had allowed 159 points over the previous three games. No, this one goes squarely on the offense which could manage just 283 yards against a defense that came in yielding 385 yards and 33 points per game. Freshman quarterback Luke Doty did his best to generate a second half spark, and he did lead the team to its 10 points. But Doty alone just wasn’t enough. With one last chance to lead a touchdown drive for a tie or victory, Doty threw an interception on a dig route over the middle. Another nail in the coffin of a season that has been buried under the weight of four straight losses.
