The first 2021 USC football commitment to announce a decommitment after the firing of Will Muschamp as head coach is the most recent addition to the class. WR Rodarius Thomas (6-3 194) of Eufaula, AL announced the withdrawal of his pledge from the Gamecocks in a tweet on Friday afternoon. At the time he committed, Thomas also had offers from Coastal Carolina, Western Kentucky, Austin Peay, Missouri State, North Alabama, South Alabama, Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State.
Thomas committed to the Gamecocks on October 8th. When he made the pledge, he said he was excited to get an SEC offer and he saw an opportunity to play early with the Gameoccks.
“The only good receiver that I’ve seen is #13 (Shi Smith), he is a dog,” Thomas said. “The other positions, I would be great. I can see myself there right now. I wish I could play with #13.”
With the decommitment by Thomas, the Gamecocks now have 19 spots taken in the 2021 recruiting class.
