Clemson has been the #1 ranked team in the country since the pre-season, but there was a steady erosion of support over the first three weeks of the season as the Tigers lost first place votes to others. That stopped with today’s AP ranking. The Tigers added seven more first place votes compared to last week following their impressive win over then seventh-ranked Miami last night. They picked up 59 of the 62 first-place votes cast by the media. #2 Alabama received 2 first place votes and #3 Georgia landed the other. Notre Dame and North Carolina round out the top five in the AP ranking. The coaches’ top five is Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
