6-9 Jalen DeLoach of Atlanta is working off a short list of USC, Georgia, Kansas State, Texas Southern, VCU and Ole Miss. He said all the schools are in regular contact, and in particular, USC is constantly in his hear with head coach Frank Martin and assistant Will Bailey leading the conversation.
“I’m talking to Coach Bailey and Coach Martin almost every day. We’re building a good foundation for our relationship. It’s going well,” DeLoach said. “They say they need a four like me because they don’t have somebody right now who is really versatile. I love the Gamecocks right now, but all the schools are even right now. No school has really jumped out.”
DeLoach has done two zoom visits with the Gamecocks, one of which would be classified as a virtual visit. But the Savannah native, who spent a year in Columbia at Gray Collegiate, doesn’t need to be shown much about the university. He estimates he attended four of Martin’s practices while in Columbia.
“I actually lived in Columbia, so I pretty much know a lot about it,” DeLoach said.
DeLoach also had a virtual visit with Kansas State Wednesday, and he’s also had one with VCU.
Right now, DeLoach isn’t sure if he’ll sign early, but he does plan to commit relatively early, sometime between now and the first of December.
DeLoach is listed as a three-star prospect and the #20 prospect in Georgia in the 247Sports Composite. Last season he averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks per game.
