#STRecruiting: #Gamecocks make offer to JUCO cornerback

Jadarrius Perkins

Continuing to scour the market for immediate help for the secondary in the 2021 class, USC Thursday offered Jadarrius Perkins (6-2 185) of Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College. Perkins is a native of Hattiesburg, MS and he has been committed to Oregon since May 29th. But the Gamecocks reached out to him recently and then followed up with the offer, and he’s receptive to the overtures.

“A couple of the staff have been following me for a while,” Perkins said. “I mean, I take every offer as a blessing. It really is one. I feel like it’s always great and a real confidence booster, to make you feel good, by being recognized by these great programs.”

Perkins also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Arizona, Florida, Texas A&M, Memphis, Liberty, Southern Miss, Maryland, FAU, Arkansas, Missouri, Washington State, West Virginia, Central Florida, Ole Miss, Louisville, Texas Tech, Baylor and Mississippi State.  USC defensive coordinator and secondary coach Travaris Robinson is the one trying to making the Gamecocks a factor with Perkins.

“Coach T-Rob is the coach I’m talking to and he just says he likes my ability to play man coverage and I’m really long and athletic,” Perkins said. “Also, I can really run and he thinks I’m the type of player that can come in and make an impact right away.”

Despite all the attention from other major programs, Perkins said he’s still holding to his Oregon pledge at this point.

“All I can say is that I’m a Duck, but I will be taking a few other visits, maybe,” Perkins said. Might the Gamecocks get one? “Oh yeah, for sure they will.”

Perkins is ranked the #3 cornerback nationally in junior college in the 247Sports Composite. He’s a native of Hattiesburg, MS. Last season as a freshman, Perkins played in 9 games and totaled 20 tackles with 3 passes broken up on an undefeated national championship team.
