Two of USC top prospects, RB Anatrio Brown of Savannah and LB Jordan Poole of Oakboro, NC plan to make their college commitment announcements this week. Brown will reveal his choice between USC and Virginia Tech at 4:30 PM Wednesday, and the Gamecocks are the heavy favorites. And later this week, Poole will do likewise with USC, NC State and Virginia Tech the finalists.
Poole said he will put his decision on Twitter Friday or Saturday with a video. He said Tuesday night he has made his decision but has not told the school. Making that decision has been a struggle for Poole. He originally planned to announce June 19th, then pushed the date back to July 1st. But he couldn’t pick a winner then either. But he’s confident now that he’s found that right place.
“I kind of like the atmosphere,” Poole said. “I like the coaching staff, people, nice fan base, great school, great education that sets you up for a good network and a life. I guess it’s the whole nine really.”
USC coach Will Muschamp has not relented in his pursuit. Poole said he text with Muschamp Tuesday, and he last talked with Gamecock coaches the end of last week.
“Just talking about how I fit I guess,” Poole said. “They showed me how much of a priority I am.”
Poole added he’s also talking regularly with State and Tech.
Last season Poole registered 36 tackles with 1 interception. He also is a talented running back who rushed for over 1500 yards last season. He’s rated a four-star in the 247Sports Composite, and ranked the #15 athlete nationally and the #18 prospect in North Carolina.
