It didn’t take long for USC offensive line coach Eric Wolford to talk his way to the top of the list with OL Kamron Scott (6-5 302) of Judson, TX. The Gamecocks offered Scott last month and since then Wolford has been in his ear explaining his history as a coach and what the Gamecocks can do for him as a player and a student. Scott, previously committed to Texas-San Antonio, is buying into what Wolford, Will Muschamp and Mike Bobo have been selling.
“I’m still open to anybody, but they are leading the way right now in my recruitment,” Scott said of the Gamecocks. “They are like on top. It’s close to home back in (Thomasville) Georgia. And I know Coach Wolf is the real deal for sure. Over thirty-some guys he’s sent to the NFL, so he knows how to do his job pretty good. Me and Coach Wolf are still building our relationship, but it’s been pretty good with them. He’s telling me about the workouts they are doing, the little practices and everything.”
Scott said Colorado, which has offered, and Virginia Tech and Texas Tech, which have not, also are talking a lot with him. Some of his other offers are Houston, Ole Miss, SMU, UCF, Louisiana Tech, Nevada and New Mexico.
Scott said he doesn’t plan to make a decision and commitment until sometime during his season. And the season in Texas has been pushed back and won’t start for him until September 24th.
Scott is a three-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite and is ranked as the #55 offensive guard in the country, though he said he plays and is being recruited for offensive tackle.
