USC commitment LB Bryce Steele, a native of Raleigh who has been attending school in Richmond, VA, announced Saturday he will return to his hometown for the fall semester with the hope of playing a football season, and then he will graduate and enroll at USC in January. This move by Steele comes after the high school association in Virginia announced last week there would be no football there in the fall. Steele wrote about his decision on Twitter: “I’d like to thank the Episcopal High School community for the support and guidance given to me as a student athlete. I will be attending Millbrook High School in Raleigh, North Carolina for my senior year of high school and enrolling at the University of South Carolina in January.” The Gamecocks have another commitment in Virginia, DE George Wilson. According to his coach, Wilson is not graduating in December, and the hope is they will have their football season in the spring.
Former Clemson commitment CB Jordan Hancock of Suwanee, GA announced a commitment to Ohio State Sunday afternoon.
Clemson target CB Ga’Quincy McKinstry of Pinson, AL named his final three Sunday as Alabama, Auburn and LSU. He’s also a basketball prospect.
One time USC target DL Marlin Dean (6-5 265) of Elberton, GA decommitted from Georgia Saturday, and he said the Gamecocks are once again an option for him. “I want to thank the University of Georgia for giving me the opportunity to play at a high level, but after having a sit down with family this was the best decision for me. I have decided to decommit an open my recruitment,” Dean wrote on Twitter. He visited USC for a junior day in late January and was high on the Gamecocks at that point. Some of his other offers are Florida State, Auburn, Colorado, West Virginia, Michigan State, East Carolina and Georgia Tech.
LB Thomas Davis (6-3 223) of Valdosta, GA named a top three of USC, Miami and Florida State. Davis is a former Mississippi State commitment.
USC target DB Javon Bullard of Milledgeville, GA was offered by Purdue.
USC target LB Tavereon Martin-Scott of Dodge City JC, KS was offered by Houston. Martin-Scott said he remains in contact with the Gamecocks.
USC target TE Bryson Nesbit of Charlotte was offered by Ole Miss.
USC target OL Anthony Belton of Georgia Military JC was offered by Houston.
CB Dontae Balfour of Starke, FL, who has been favoring USC, was offered by Ole Miss.
USC offered 2022 RB Tevin White (6-1 190) of Stafford, VA. He’s rated as a four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite and the #13 RB nationally in his class. Some of his other offers are Michigan State, Kansas State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Boston College, Maryland, Pitt, Virginia, Duke, Indiana, Georgia and Penn State.
USC offered 2022 OT Jacob Hood (6-8 350) of Nashville. He has not yet been rated or ranked. He also reports offers from Kentucky, Baylor, Kansas, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Eastern Kentucky.
Clemson offered 2022 5-star ATH Keon Sabb (6-3 195) of Williamstown, NJ. He’s rated the #8 prospect and #1 ATH nationally in the class in the 247Sports Composite. Free safety could be his college position. In high school he’s also been a running back and receiver. Some of his other offers are Miami, Syracuse, Kansas, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Kentucky and Oklahoma.
Goose Creek WR Malachi Taylor committed to Coastal Carolina.
Wando RHP/C Reed Garris (6-2 185) committed to Clemson Saturday. He gives the Tigers 14 announced commitments for the class and is the 8th from an in-state school. The others are LHP Rocco Reid of Greenville, RHP Billy Barlow of North Myrtle Beach, OF Will Taylor of Dutch Fork, 3B Billy Amick of The Kings’ Academy, OF Tristan Bisetta of JL Mann, OF David Lewis of Blue Ridge and LHP Camden Troyer of Powdersville. The Tigers also have a commitment from RHP BJ Williams of Columbia who is attending school in Georgia.
Jeff Goodman reported Clemson forward Khavon Moore has entered the transfer portal. Moore, a former top 50 prospect by recruiting analysts, transferred to Clemson from Texas Tech prior to last season and averaged under 2 points and under 2 rebounds per game in 28 games.
6-10 Lynn Kidd of IMG Academy was offered by Clemson. He’s a native of Gainesville, FL and is rated as a four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He’s ranked 81st nationally and #18 among power forwards nationally. Some of his other offers are Virginia Tech, Alabama, Miami, Wake Forest, Auburn, Iowa State, South Florida, Xavier, Georgia Tech, Florida, Stetson and Ole Miss.
OT Ta’Chawn Brooks, formerly of Dutch Fork and now at Independence JC, KS, arrived at the junior college earlier this month with the knowledge he’ll only need to spend one season there. He got his NCAA eligibility late, so he enrolled in junior college but can be finished there and eligible to transfer up in December. “Since I’m a December graduate, I have a choice to make. If I want to stay another year and get bigger, faster, stronger or keep lifting now and if I get the offer I want or like, commit and then leave. Since I was in high school, I had a lot of college contacts and connections, but they couldn’t offer me because I wasn’t eligible. Now that I am, it gives them options.” Brooks said he remains in touch with USC offensive line coach Eric Wolford. He’s also in contact with Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Florida State and Murray State.
USC is in the top five with TE Jalen Shead of Olive Branch, MS. The others are Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Ole Miss.
USC offered Hammond 2022 OL Drew Bobo, son of the USC offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Bobo also has offers from Maryland and Tennessee.
OT Cedrick Nicely (6-5 305) of Gainesville, GA said he communicates daily with USC offensive line coach Eric Wolford. He also hears daily from Georgia Tech and South Florida. Nicely said he’s still not close on his decision and likely will wait until his season for a commitment. Nicely said Wolford’s message to him has been, “He thinks it’s a good fit for me up there and he knows how to get players in the NFL. I’m feeling a strong bond with them.” He also feels strongly about Georgia Tech.
USC is the latest offer for 2022 OL Collin Sadler (6-5 295) of Greenville. Sadler was offered earlier this month by Clemson. His other offers include Arizona State, Georgia, Notre Dame, LSU, Northwestern, Pitt, Duke, East Carolina, Penn State, Virginia, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Oregon, West Virginia and Miami.
USC offered 2022 OG Desaun Williams (6-4 290) of Colonial Heights, VA. He’s been given a three-star rating by 247Sports and is ranked as the #20 offensive guard prospect nationally in his class. His offers also include Boston College, Baylor, East Carolina, Maryland and Pitt.
USC offered 2022 OG Arquis Ward (6-4 270) of Auburndale, FL. He does not yet have a rating or ranking by 247Sports. He also has an offer from Cincinnati.
USC offered 2022 OT Anez Cooper (6-4 330) of Pleasant Grove, AL. He has not been rated or ranked by 247Sports. He also has offers from Georgia Tech, Northern Arizona and FAU.
USC target DE Kelvin Gilliam of Highland Springs, VA has set August 22nd for his commitment announcement. He has a short list of USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Virginia Tech, LSU, Cal and Kentucky.
2022 WR Jaleel Skinner of Greer was offered by Michigan.
Clemson offered 6-11 Jonas Aidoo of Durham, NC who reclassified for the 2021 class and now attends the Liberty Heights Athletic Institute in Charlotte. He also has offers from Appalachian State and High Point.
Clemson offered 2022 6-9 De’Ante Green of Arden, NC. He has not yet been rated or ranked by 247Sports. He also has offers from Kansas, Louisville, SC State, Auburn, LSU, Houston, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, Charlotte, UNC-Wilmington, NC State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Xavier and Penn State. Last season he averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds per game. He shot 53% from the floor, 35% from three and 73 % from the line according to MaxPreps stats.
2022 OF Lleyton Lackey (5-9 165) of Grovetown, GA committed to Clemson. Here’s a scouting report on Lackey from Perfect Game: Developing build that stands to improve drastically as he continues to progress, posted a 6.64 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary outfielder, shows great quick twitch actions and is aggressive to the baseball. Athleticism shines through when he covers ground into the gap as well as down the line. Makes excellent first step reads off the bat. Arm is solid as he recorded an 80 mph throw from the outfield, however, it should continue to strengthen nicely alongside his build. At the plate, is a switch hitter with a similar looking stance from both sides of the plate. Uses an upright and slightly open stance with a simple leg kick trigger. Plenty of present bat speed as the ball jumps off his barrel into either gap. Stays short and compact to the ball with a flat barrel plane through the zone. Great student in the classroom as well.
