#STRecruiting: #Gamecocks remain strong factor with McNeill

USC has two linebackers committed in Trenilyas Tatum and Bryce Steele, and they are in pursuit of others, like Jordan Poole, Thomas Davis, Tavereon Martin-Scott and Jabril McNeill. McNeill (6-3 206) of Raleigh listed the Gamecocks in his top 11. But in fact, he has the Gamecocks higher up on his list, largely due to the relationship he’s built with new linebackers coach Rod Wilson.

“I like them, they’ve been doing everything, hitting me up every day, showing love,” McNeill said.  “Coach Wilson, I like him a lot.  He’s cool.  He doesn’t talk to me like a robot.  I like him a lot.  He’s really good people.”

McNeill has visited USC, and he liked what he saw on the visit. And he likes what he’s hearing from Wilson, Will Muschamp and other coaches.

“I like everything about South Carolina,” McNeill said.  “They are at the top of the list because of all the love they’ve showed. Also Oregon, West Virginia, Oklahoma and Kentucky are really pressing.”

McNeill also has in his top 11 NC State, Virginia Tech, Washington, Oklahoma State, Michigan State and Louisville. He does not plan to make a commitment until sometime around the mid-point of his season as he looks for that place that feels most comfortable.

“A place I can really call home because I’m going to be spending four years away from everybody,” McNeill said.  “So, a place I can really call home and trust everyone around me, the brotherhood and all the coaches.”

Last season McNeill recorded 145 tackles with 5 sacks and 21 quarterback pressures.
