
The June weather, lacking the stiff wind of April, weakened Harbour Town’s greatest defense against the world’s best golfers. The result, a tournament record 22 under par winning score by Webb Simpson. Simpson capped off the weekend with a bogey free seven under 64, playing the inward nine at five under par 30. He trailed the leaders by two shots when he birdied the 12th and 13th, the moved to the lead with birdies on 15, 16 and 17. He parred the 18th to secure a one shot victory over Abraham Ancer who came up short on a 37 foot birdie putt on 18 to force a playoff. The win is Simpson’s first at Harbour Town, his second of the season and the 7th of his career.
