#STRecruiting: #Gamecocks in top ten with premier Florida safety

Dink Jackson

SAF Dink Jackson (6-2 185) of Melbourne, FL is one of the top safety prospects in the country. He’s rated as a four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite and the #15 safety in the country. He recently named a top ten and USC made the list. The others are Florida State, Tennessee, West Virginia, Miami, Kentucky, Southern Cal, Ole Miss, Auburn and Louisville.

Jackson said he hears from the Gamecocks at least once or twice a week and he considers them a major player for him at this point.

“We’ve been discussing me getting up there after this corona thing is over,” Jackson said. “I’m really not ready to narrow things down right now. They are in the mix. I really like that Coach Muschamp communicates with me a lot. It makes me feel like I’m a priority for them.”

From his conversations with Muschamp, Jackson said he gets the feeling his ability to play all over in the secondary would come into play with the Gamecocks.

“He says I’m very versatile,” Jackson said. “He said i can play corner, Nickel or safety, but he really loves the way I come off the edge.”

Jackson said he does have a top five in his mind right now, but he’s not ready to go public with that. He plans to visit those five and then make his decision in the fall.

According to MaxPreps stats, last season Jackson had 80 tackles, 6 sacks and 1 interceptions. On the offensive side, Jackson rushed for 219 yards and 4 touchdowns, and he had 22 catches for 246 yards and 4 touchdowns.
