USC football coach Will Muschamp is typical of the people in his position across the country in that they are having to juggle much more tha ever before. Instead of focusing last month on recruiting, this month on high school summer camps and next month on team conditioning, Mother Nature and the national outcry against racism has changed the dynamics of running a college football team. Today a coach has to know as much about social distancing as he does chop blocks, as much about social activism as he does Cover-2.
Muschamp welcomed his players back to campus last week for Covid-19 testing. And the team organized a protest march to the Governor’s Mansion on Friday. Monday morning in a conference call with statewide media, Muschamp touched on all the issues he’s handling, plus how he’s trying to get his football team ready for what he expects will be a full season that will start on September 5th against Coastal Carolina in Columbia.
