Des Kitchings is no stranger to the state of South Carolina. He grew up in Wagener and went from Wagener-Salley High School to Furman. He’s now back in his home state as a coach for the first time as the running backs coach for will Muschamp at USC. Kitchings had a successful run as the running backs coach at NC State but wasn’t retained after last season. When Bryan McClendon left USC for Oregon earlier this month, that opened the door for Muschamp to bring him home.
Thursday Kitchings talked with the media for the first time about his return to South Carolina and what he brings to USC as the running backs coach.
