LB Trenilyas Tatum of Jonesboro, GA is ready to start closing down his recruiting. He narrowed his list to eight earlier this month…USC, Tennessee, Louisville, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. And now, three have emerged as favorites as Tatum moves closer to a decision he hopes to make in about a month.
“Yeah, I’m getting closer and closer every day,” Tatum said. “Every day that goes by I’m getting closer to my decision, sometime end of May, the beginning of June. About another month.”
Three three schools Tatum said now stand above the rest are USC, Tennessee and Georgia Tech. He’s hearing from the coaches from each every day. The Gamecocks are hitting him up with Will Muschamp and Kyle Krantz.
“I talk to them every day, Coach Krantz, Coach Muschamp, we talk every day, or text every day,” Tatum said. “They are sending me videos showing me how South Carolina is, showing me the campus, showing me the stuff around campus.”
With USC in the final three, and with time running down, how is Tatum feeling about the Gamecocks and their chances to land him?
“It’s a big chance,” he said. “They’ve been recruiting me hard. I like all the schools, but I’m liking them.”
But, Tatum added, there is no leader among the three, and he’s got to do more studying before rendering a decision.
“We’ve actually been to the schools. I’ve got to go and do my research again,” Tatum said. “All the coaches are cool.”
Tatum had 91 tackles last season with 31 tackles for loss and 14 sacks. He’s ranked the 15th best middle linebacker in the country in the 247Sports composite.
