USC is showing interest in LB Kameron Olds (6-3 225) of Richmond. Olds has not been heavily recruited to this point. His only offer is Norfolk State. But he took an unofficial visit to USC March 1-2 and took in a spring practice. Since then, he’s been talking with recruiter Kyle Krantz and head coach Will Muschamp. He’s optimistic eventually they’ll call back with an offer.
“I speak with Coach Krantz weekly,” Olds said. “I visited at the beginning of March before the pandemic hit and love the place. Coaches are great, personable and seem to really care about the student and as well as the athlete. I had a great conversation with Coach Muschamp while there and he loves my film, size and physicality. I haven’t been offered as of yet, but I assume it’s a matter of time. Respectful and hopeful, you know?”
Olds is Ok with letting the recruiting process play out. He has a level of maturity that allows him to understand his current place in the recruiting landscape. He also believes his time for major offers will come.
“As I continue to experience coaches reaching out, I now recognize there is a systemic process that must happen to ensure a recruit is the right fit for the school recruiting them,” Olds said. “I need to get to know them and they need to ensure I’m their guy as well. Coach Krantz and Muschamp told me to be patient and trust the process. So, each week I get motivational messages from Krantz who says things like, ‘I’m checking on you and your family because you are important to us’. These types of messages keep me grounded, humbled and appreciative.”
Olds also is receiving interest from Temple, Charlotte, Richmond, Duquesne, Delaware, Virginia Tech, Marshall and Kent State.
