
Clemson and Boston College locked up in a tight one Friday to open ACC play with the Tigers pulling out a 4-3 win. The game went to the bottom of the 8th tied at 3. With one out, Adam Hackenberg lined a one-out single to left scoring James Parker who had singled and stolen second.
Carson Spiers, who came on with two out in the 8th, retired the side in order in the 9th to earn his second win of the season. Sam Weatherly had another strong start for Clemson striking out 10 in 5.2 innings. He allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run. Geoffrey Gilbert worked the two innings between Weatherly and Spires.
Hackenberg and Parker each had 2 hits out of the Tigers’ 7 hit attack. Clemson also committed 4 errors giving the Tigers 20 miscues in the first 13 games.
Clemson is 10-3 and will send Davis Sharpe to the mound in Saturday’s game two of the series.
