#Gamecocks handle Cornell with ease in series opener (VIDEO)

USC won its second in a row Friday afternoon defeating Cornell 10-2 in the opener of a three game series at Founders Park. A four run second, in which the Big Red made two errors, and a four run sixth were the big innings for the Gamecocks. Wes Clarke hit a two-run homer in the fifth, his 7th of the season, to account for the Gamecocks other runs.

Carmen Mlodzenski started and went 5.1 innings allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned, striking out 5 and walking 5. He’s now 2-1. Four relievers pitched hitless ball the rest of the way.

The Gamecocks improve to 9-4 and will start Thomas Farr in Saturday’s game.
