WR Sam Reynolds (5-10 183) of Alabaster, AL is known for his speed on the field and on the track. He also showed his speed in making a decision when he committed to USC coach Will Muschamp and recruiter Bobby Bentley while on an unofficial visit Sunday with his parents. It was his first visit to USC and he saw and learned enough to know he wants to join Muschamp and company in 2021.
“We were talking about where I would fit in to their system with Coach Muschamp and Coach Bentley,” Reynolds said. “Coach Muschamp said when you commit to me, I commit to you, so you ought to be a Gamecock. When he said that, that kind of tough my heart, touched my family’s heart, and at that moment we all knew it was time to be a Gamecock.”
The Gamecocks offered Reynolds last week and becoming his first Power 5 offer. Troy, Samford, Middle Tennessee State and North Alabama are his other offers. So, going into the visit, Reynolds had given some thought to jumping in with the Gamecocks.
“Before I went I prayed on it,” Reynolds said. “Once I got there, it had everything I was looking for. My family loved it. It felt like a home away from home. The football aspect was wonderful, the education was great and they have the major I would love (Business Management). Everything seemed new, state of the art. You go to a lot of SEC schools and ACC schools and they can’t even compete with South Carolina in my opinion. The facilities were wonderful. It was the best decision for me.”
Last season Reynolds had 36 catches for 360 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also averaged 25 yards on kickoff returns. He liked the fact Muschamp and Bentley, and receivers coach Bryan McClendon, have a plan for him in the offense.
“They love my speed,” Reynolds said. “They said they wanted to get me in mismatches and let me go to work in the open field. They said I’m going to be like a gadget or a toy like Deebo Samuel and Ace Sanders. They can move me around, put me at back, slot, outside receiver and get me out in space and create mismatches.”
Reynolds reported has run his best 60 in 6.93 and the 100 in 10.76. He also drew a track scholarship offer from Colorado State.
Reynolds gives the Gamecocks four counters toward the 2021 class at this point. He said he will return to USC in three weeks and plans to bring with him his close friend QB Will Crowder of Gardendale, AL and teammate WR JB Mitchell.

Lol I think the only time I ever comment on any of these articles is when I have a question about scholarship counts…so who are the other 2 that count towards 2021? One must be Collin Hill? Then there’s Prentice, Kroeger, and Jeter. I’ve seen that Prentice is expected to go on scholarship before next season. Not sure about the special teamers. I think I remember seeing that they were going to be scholarship players when they first committed, but not sure about that now.
