
Four Clemson pitchers held Liberty to just 4 hits and struck out 14, but they also walked 11 batters and hit 2 others. They were able to strand 17 of those runners and the Tigers opened their season with a 5-3 win at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
Clemson scored 2 runs in the 5th to build a 5-1 lead and Carson Spiers pitched the final three innings allowing just 1 unearned run. Geoffrey Gilbert earned the win in relief and Spiers the save. Sam Weatherly started and struck out a career high 8 batters.
The Tigers had 10 hits including a homer by Sam Hall.
