Tyasha Harris (52) led USC with 19 points in the win over Connecticut (Travis Bell/SIDELINE CAROLINA)

The top ranked USC Women defeated 5th ranked Connecticut for the first time ever Monday night at the Colonial Life Arena 70-52. The win is USC’s first in nine meetings with the 11 time national champions. USC is now 23-1 and UConn falls to 20-3.

A sell-out crowd of 18-thousand saw the Gamecocks take an 11-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Huskies made just 1 of 16 shots in the quarter. The Gamecocks added to the lead each subsequent quarter.

Tyasha Harris led four Gamecocks in double figures with 19 points. She also had 11 assists. Aliyah Boston had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

USC returns to action at home Thursday night against Auburn.
