Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney addressed the media, Wednesday, to share his thoughts on the 2020 signing class, Travis Etienne’s decision to return for his senior season and the transfer of quarterback Chase Brice.

Swinney was especially excited about the additions of quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, running back Demarkcus Bowman, defensive tackle Tre Williams and, of course, the return of Etienne, the school’s all-time leading rusher, “I think he’s the best back in the country. We’re happy we’ve got him for another 9-10 months.”

Uiagalelei received similarly high praise, “He can do anything he wants to do. Fast, strong, athletic guy. Nothing we’ll want him to do that he can’t do.”

Swinney also thinks Tigers fans will take to Williams the way they did to another Clemson star, “People are going to love him. He’s got a big personality. A little of a Christian Wilkins like personality. He’s coming off surgery, but by summer he should be cut loose for full speed. High football IQ, too.”

Bowman also drew comparisons from Swinney to another Clemson legend, “He’s another version of C.J. Spiller. Just as far as his high school tape, track speed, ability to catch the football, I think there’s a lot of similarities. Thicker than C.J. was, but he’s got that kind of explosiveness.”

Swinney went on to talk about the youth of the roster (78 freshmen or sophomores), Chase Brice’s transfer to Duke and how excited he is to get back to practice on Feb. 26th.
