Clemson landed a commitment Sunday from the player recognized in the 247Sports composite as the top player in the 2021 class, DE Korey Forman of Corona, CA. Foreman commitment during an unofficial visit for a junior day. Among those who joined him at Clemson Saturday was DT Payton Page of Greensboro, NC. He’s rated the #2 defensive tackle nationally in the class and the top prospect in his state.
Page said he and Foreman spent a lot of time talking about the future and getting to know each other better.
“Korey and I talked a lot,” Page said. “We built our relationship and we’d like to play together.”
That certainly would make the Clemson defensive staff very happy. Brent Venables, Todd Bates and Lemanski Hall certainly could build a special front wall in 2021 with Foreman joined by Page and the holdovers from the 2020 group. They let him know exactly what they thought of him.
“They talked about their plan for recruiting me,” Page said. “They are only going to take one defensive tackle right now, and that’s me.”
Page wasn’t ready to make his decision last weekend as he wants to take some official visits before deciding. But after visiting for two games during the season and then last weekend, he has a good feel for Clemson.
“The big thing is that they treat me like family,” Page said. “It feels like something different. But I also have to go to the other schools.”
He will take official visits to the other schools in his top five…North Carolina, LSU, Tennessee and Oregon. He did not visit anywhere January 18th and has no visit planned for this weekend.
Last season Page recorded 71 tackles with 26 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.
