Alex Fudge

Clemson played host to four-star small forward Alex Fudge (6-6 175) of Jacksonville, FL for the New Year’s Eve game against Miami, and he left Littlejohn Coliseum with an offer from the Tigers. By the 247Sports composite, Fudge is ranked #10 in the state of Florida and #27 nationally at his position. Some of his other offers thus far are Southern Cal, Wake Forest, TCU, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State. The Clemson visit left him thinking pretty strongly about the Tigers.

“My first step onto the campus, I felt nothing but great vibes,” Fudge said. “I was greeted by the coaches and liked the facility. From the jump I saw coach (Anthony) Goins and from there he grabbed me and my family and showed us around the facility. We met the strength trainer and absolutely loved all the expectations he had. The atmosphere at the game was also pleasing. Coach (Brad) Brownell said he loved my athleticism and my ability to play above the rim. My length and height is what they’re looking for, to play both inside and out. From here I’m looking to build a better relationship and probably get back up to Clemson again soon.”

The Tigers lost in overtime against Miami in a game in which they played well enough to lead by 10, but their mistakes down the stretch and in overtime led to their third straight ACC loss. But Fudge said the defeat did not diminish their performance in his eyes and sees a style of play that fits his.

“The way that Clemson plays off of each other, they truly play team ball, setting screens to get someone else open,” Fudge said. “They also pass up an easy shot for a much easier shot, which shows that they don’t play selfish ball. The non-selfish type of play, moving to get open constantly, inside game, I see myself in.”

Fudge said he plans to set an official visit to Southern Cal, and he plans to take unofficial visits to Georgia Tech, Kansas and Virginia Tech.

Last season he averaged 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists per game.

And Fudge said he knows of former Clemson DB Jamaal Fudge, who is also from Jacksonville, but he’s not sure if they are related.
