Every two years the South Carolina High School League goes thru the painstaking task of realigning the conferences/regions based on enrollment figures. Last week the SCHSL released the proposed realignment to take effect next school year. The top 40 schools were placed in 5A and the next 40 in 4A. For the remaining schools according to the High School League, “the concept of plus or minus (+/-) four (4) schools was employed. This created the opportunity for schools to be assigned to more geographically friendly regions among the classifications.” Appeals will be heard in late January with a final realignment plan to be released the end of February.
