Hammond School DE Jordan Burch Wednesday afternoon announced a commitment to USC Wednesday afternoon in an ESPNU televised event staged at his high school gym packed with family, teammates and school kids. Burch sat quietly behind a table on a stage, his mother to his right, and waited for his cue from the ESPNU host. When his time came, he quickly stood up, opened a package on the table, and while saying he would be spending the next four years at….he put a USC camp on his head.
Burch, at his mother’s direction, did not take questions from the media on hand to cover his announcement. She said they will talk with the media at another time but she wanted him to enjoy his day. Burch did not sign at the announcement and there was no confirmation as to when he will sign. His mother would not answer a question about when he will sign.
Burch is the highest rated prospect signed by Will Muschamp at USC and falls in line with Jadeveon Clowney as a defensive prospect expected to make an immediate impact. His coach, Erik Kimrey, said Burch has tremendous athletic ability, could play on the offensive side if needed, but is a stellar pass rusher. He also had high praise for him as a student and an individual.
Burch’s commitment gives USC 22 pledges for the 2020 class, 17 of which signed today.
