It’s the final recruiting weekend before the dead period leading into the early signing period and Clemson has some significant visitors on campus. According to multiple websites covering the Tigers, LB Trenton Simpson of Charlotte is taking an official visit. Simpson has been thought to be North Carolina bound after decommitting from Auburn in late October. He visited Clemson soon after and picked up an offer from the Tigers. Clemson has also been eying LB Justin Flowe of Upland, CA. He’s taking an official to Southern Cal this weekend.
Clemson websites also reported LSU commitment FS Malcolm Greene of Highland Springs, VA is in for an official visit. Greene also visited Clemson in January as well as for the spring game but the Tigers didn’t push for a commitment at that time. He later committed to LSU and has publicly held to that while Clemson has continued to work him.
Set to arrive Saturday is WR Xzavier Henderson of Miami. His visit was delayed due to his team playing for a state championship Friday night. Henderson also visited Clemson in March and for a camp in June. His 247Sports profile reflects other official visits taken to Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
Also scheduled for official visits to Clemson this weekend are commitments TE Sage Ennis and OL Bryn Tucker.
USC is scheduled for several commitments to to take officials visits this weekend in CB O’Donnell Fortune, OL Trai Jones, RB Rashad Amos, WR Rico Powers and and DT Makius Scott. Committed RB Marshawn Lynch also is in for the weekend according to his Instagram.
GamecockCentral and TheBigSpur reported Gamecock commitment DT Alex Huntley is taking an official visit to Virginia this weekend. This appears to be an offshoot of the uncertainty surrounding Will Muschamp earlier in the month. The Cavaliers were able to schedule Huntley, who is originally from Maryland, for a visit and he is following thru.
The elephant in the room is, of course, Hammond DE Jordan Burch. He has dumbfounded all recruiting followers by his ability to be one of the nation’s most high profile prospects yet keep his recruiting activity almost secret. It is known that Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and Georgia’s Kirby Smart visited with Burch this week because there are pictures of the two coaches at Burch’s basketball games Wednesday and Thursday nights respectively. The Alabama Rivals sited reported Nick Saban visited in the home Monday night, and websites have reported Will Muschamp of USC and Ed Orgeron of LSU were expected for visits, but there’s been no solid confirmation on those. Burch has taken official visits to LSU and Alabama and there’s no concrete evidence yet that he will visit anywhere this weekend. He has set Thursday for his announcement and some have reported he will do that in his original hometown of Florence.
RB ZaQuandre White, who publicly committed to USC Thursday, said Friday night he’s still not talked with Will Muschamp but did text with Thomas Brown. He plans to sign next week but the day has not been set. White is finished at Iowa Western JC and is returning home to Ft. Myers, FL where he will finish up some online classes.
Other visits of note this weekend….USC target DE Yaya Diaby of Georgia Military JC to West Virginia and USC target WR-Ger-Cari Caldwell of Northwestern to Baylor.
USC target TE Jaheim Bell of Valdosta, GA will announce on Wednesday. He has had USC, Florida State and Oklahoma as his favorites. The Seminoles tossed Bell something else to think about Friday when his quarterback, Tate Rodemaker, committed to them. Rodemaker also is the son of the Valdosta head coach.
Gray Collegiate WR Omarion Dollison, who is at the Touchstone Energy Bowl, was offered by South Florida.
Ridge View DB Dwight Jacobs Jr. committed to Missouri State.
DT Chuck Smith IV of Atlanta, the son of the former Atlanta Falcon star defensive lineman, committed to Wofford.
USC offered 2021 LB Ese Dubre of Powder Springs, GA.
Coastal Carolina offered 2021 DT Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins of Coastal Carolina.
