Clemson is up to no. 3 in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings released, Tuesday. The Tigers moved up two spots after dismantling NC State 55-10 in Raleigh. LSU has captured the top spot for the first time in school history. There was movement throughout the top 25 as no team holds the same spot they held a week ago.

With regard to the all-important top four spots, one SEC team replaced another, as Georgia slid ahead of Alabama following the Crimson Tide’s home loss to LSU. Appalachian State, following its road win over South Carolina, has moved into the College Football Playoff Rankings for the first time in school history. Of the five remaining unbeaten teams, Baylor remains ranked the lowest at no. 13.

Clemson was never ranked lower than no. 2 in the 2018 rankings on its way to a National Championship. The Tigers have entered the College Football Playoffs seeded 1st or 2nd in each of the last four seasons (2018: 2; 2017: 1; 2016: 2; 2015: 1), winning titles in 2016 and 2018.
