Dabo Swinney held his weekly teleconference and was quite pleased with Clemson’s performance in a 59-7 homecoming victory over Boston College, Saturday. A week after expressing concern over some missed tackles , Swinney called the Tigers’ defensive performance “awesome” and heaped praise on the linebackers and safeties. Swinney said, “Those guys (Boston College) were averaging 278/game rushing, we held them to 2.2/carry and 97 yards total … I’m really pleased with our linebackers. All of those guys and our safeties. We missed a lot of tackles against Louisville and we didn’t miss a single tackle at safety.”
Swinney also pointed to his team’s offensive statistics and wondered aloud why anyone would question its effectiveness. “We’ve been good all year (offensively). We’re top four in the country. We had one average/bad game at North Carolina, the rest of the games we’ve been pretty doggone good.”
Clemson will next host Wofford before returning to ACC play at NC State, Nov. 9th.
