Mon Denson filled in admirably for an injured Rico Dowdle against Florida (Travis Bell/SIDELINE CAROLINA)

USC coach Will Muschamp understands nothing will come of it, but he said on his Sunday night conference call that he did talk with SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and head of officials Steve Shaw about some of the calls in Saturday’s loss to Florida. There was some questionable non-calls that did not go against the Gators that have raised the ire of Gamecock fans. Muschamp did express his disgust to the officials during the game, and that drew a 15 yard penalty. In his post-game comments, Muschamp said the official flagged him from 40 yards away and he referred to him as “gutless.” Muschamp also said the MRI Sunday on Rico Dowdle’s knee had not come back as of the conference call, and he had dismissed cornerback Jamel Cook from the team following his arrest Friday on a charge of second-degree domestic violence. Cook was suspended for Saturday’s game.
