Lovasea Carroll

Former USC commitment 2021 RB Lovasea Carroll, a native of Warrenton, GA who is attending IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, has been out this season due to a shoulder injury that will require off-season surgery. He hopes to return to action this Friday night. Carroll committed to the Gamecocks in May and was viewed as a major pickup for the Gamecocks. But he decommitted September 1st so that he could explore other options. Since then, several more major offers have come in.

“I feel like I made a good decision,” Carroll said.  “I’m still in the eleventh grade ands still have two seasons to go, so I feel like I made the correct decision.”

Carroll said since his decommitment, his contact with USC has dropped off considerably.

“I haven’t talk to any of the coaches,” Carroll said.  “I mean, Will Muschamp sends me something every day, like a quote or something like that.  But I haven’t talked to the coaches, I haven’t talked to coach Brown or no one  like that.”

Carroll adds that he would still consider the Gamecocks as a contender if they were to re-establish communications.

“Yeah, I would love for them to, and they would still be one of my top schools,” Carroll said.

Right now he has Ohio State, Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Penn State at the top of his list. And he’s looking for that place that provides him a high level of comfort.

“Just building a relationship with the coaching staff,” he said.  “Just getting to know the coaches, getting to know their history at the school they are at.  Really just getting to know the coaches and building a relationship.”

Carroll picked up an offer Wednesday from West Virginia. Some of his other offers are Alabama, Florida State, Notre Dame, UCF and Appalachian State.
