Clemson assistant coach Antonio Reynolds Dean was at Ridge View Monday to check out 6-8 Ja’Von Benson and 6-0 2021 PG Tyler Rice in open gym. Dean also got a look at junior Gregory Jackson. Western Carolina is due in on Tuesday morning and the College of Charleston Tuesday afternoon. Rice said USC has been in touch with him and plans to be in later in the week and he plans to visit there next week. Benson is scheduled for an official visit with the Gamecocks this week. Rice said Clemson plans to continue recruiting him and is also interested in Benson.

Clemson and Georgia Tech coaches were in on Monday to see 2021 6-11 John Butler of Christ Church. And he visited Florida State Saturday.

USC coaches visited Monday with 6-5 Earl Timberlake of Hyattsville, MD according to John Whittle of TheBigSpur. Head coaches from Providence and Miami also were in today according to reports. Timberlake has taken official visits to USC, Providence and Pitt and has others planned for Miami this weekend and Seton Hall in two weeks. He also plans a visit to North Carolina.

2021 guard Bryce McGowens is headed back to Wren from Lincoln Academy in Winston-Salem because Lincoln is shutting down according to Justy Byerly of HoopsSeen.

Byrnes RB Rahjai Harris will announce his commitment September 28th. He said he’s not yet narrowed his list. His offers include East Carolina, Appalachian State, Memphis, Coastal Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and Middle Tennessee.

Deion Sanders was in Columbia Saturday two watch his son, Gamecock freshman DB Shilo Sanders. With him was his younger son, 2021 Shedeur Sanders, a quarterback with an offer from the Gamecocks and several others. On the Gamecock Radio Network broadcast, Deion indicated Shedeur is very interested in Gamecocks and Shilo is having good experience so far.
