EJ Williams

WR EJ Williams (6-3 183) of Phenix City, AL is set to announce his college decision Saturday at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. Williams narrowed his decision to Clemson, Auburn, Alabama and LSU. Clemson has strong ties to the Central High program, and Williams has been a frequent visitor. That has led many recruiting observers to pencil him in as another national receiver prospect set to join the Clemson offense.

“I love the atmosphere at Clemson,” Williams said. “I love the fact that they are producing so many great wide receivers and putting so many receivers in the NFL.”

Two of his former teammates, WR Justyn Ross and safety Ray Thornton, are with the Tigers , so that has made his visits there feel very comfortable.

“I spent some time with Justyn and Ray. I stayed the night with them; it went extremely well,” Williams said. “We always have a good time every time we see each other. Those are my big brothers. He (Thornton) really isn’t recruiting me to Clemson. Of course, he wants me to come there but he tells me to go where I feel comfortable. Both of them tell me that.”

This will not be a last minute decision for Williams. He made up his mind about ten days ago.

“I knew for sure where I wanted to go on August 14th,” Williams said. “It’s the connections and relationship that I have with the school as a whole. Not just the football team, but the coaches and the president, too.”

Last season Williams caught 40 passes for 668 yards and 8 touchdowns. Clemson has just one receiver committed for the 2020 class which currently numbers 19.
