The writers voting in the AP pre-season poll agree with the coaches. Clemson is the #1 team in the country heading into the season. For the Tigers, it’s the first time the program will open the season ranked atop the AP poll, the same distinction they earned with the coaches’ poll earlier this month. Clemson received 52 of the 62 first place votes with the other 10 going to second ranked Alabama. Georgia, Oklahoma and Ohio State complete the top five. USC was listed among the schools outside the top 25 receiving votes.
