2021 QB Colten Gauthier of Dacula, GA got his first close up look at Clemson Thursday with a six hour visit. Clemson is still looking to get its hooks into a ’21 quarterback after two the Tigers offered committed elsewhere. The Tigers did not offer Gauthier Thursday but there is legitimate interest both ways.
“I got there around 3:00 PM an left around 6:00 PM,” Gauthier said. “We toured the campus, stadium, academics and football facilities, and we spent one-and-a-half hours with coach (Brandon) Streeter in the quarterback room. We talked about Clemson football and the culture they have developed and why it is different. As far as the offer, he said that I am a high priority for them and he wants to see me throw live. He is coming to a practice or a game this fall.”
One of Gauthier’s strongest pursuers at this point is USC. The Gamecocks offered in May and he visited that month, and he returned for a camp in June to work out for coach Will Muschamp and quarterbacks coach Dan Werner. He has had the Gamecocks high on his list since then.
” I talk to Coach Warner every week from South Carolina,” Gauthier said. “I have a great relationship with him. My feelings for South Carolina have not changed.”
Gauthier has set some unofficial visits for the coming season. He is going to Clemson September 7th, UCF September 14th and USC September 28th.
Some of his other offers are Duke, Boston College, Colorado, Kentucky, Syracuse, Louisville, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pitt, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech and Miami.
