Obinna Anochili-Killen

USC will lose big men Maik Kotsar and Micaiah Henry after this season and that will leave Frank Martin with just two true inside bodies for the following season in Alanzo Frink and Wildens Leveque. So, Martin and his staff this summer watched the various events around the country trying to identify possible replacements. One they like 6-9 Obinna Anochili-Killen, a native of Lagos Nigeria who has spent the last four years in Chapmanville, WV.

The Gamecocks last exposure to Anochili-Killen was at the recent Peach Jam in North Augusta. The two sides are building that recruiting relationship that could lead to an offer in the near future.

“We’re trying to set up an unofficial visit for after the dead period,” Anochili-Killen said.  “I can come in there and play because they are losing two big guys.  I’ve been talking to coach Chuck Martin.  They are looking for a big guy.”

The dead period ends July 31st and the month of August does allow for on-campus visits. Anochili-Killen has taken official visits to Temple and George Washington.

Last season hea averaged 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks per game. What he hears from the Gamecock coach is they like his effort level.

“They like my motor, how hard I play offensively and defensively,” he said.  “I can score in and out.  I can face up.”

Anochili-Killen has offers from Penn State, VCU, Akron, East Tennessee State, Evansville, George Washington and George Mason.
