Jake Bentley runs against Florida during 2018 game in Gainesville (Travis Bell/SIDELINE CAROLINA)

USC senior quarterback Jake Bentley has the chance this season to set numerous school passing records. He’s already in the top five in passing yards, pass attempts, pass completions, completion percentage, touchdown passes and total offense. But the most important state, of course is wins. Since becoming the starting quarterback, Bentley has a 19-13 record including wins over Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida, NC State, Michigan and Arkansas. But, he’s yet to beat Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky and Texas A&M. And his last six quarters of work last season produced zero points.

For his career, Bentley has passed for 7385 yards with 54 touchdowns and 30 interceptions, and he’s completed 62.8% of his attempts. So, while Bentley has been good, he has not been great. And for the Gamecocks to be great in 2019, against the nation’s toughest schedule, they need Bentley to be great.

Bentley made the rounds at SEC Media Days Wednesday and here is some of what he had to say to reporters in the TV room.
