
CB Joey Hunter of Tyrone, GA is set to announce his commitment on Tuesday. His only official visit was to USC June 22nd. He also has made unofficial visits to Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Colorado. Hunter said Sunday he’s made his decision and will release it via Twitter. The choice came down to USC and Texas A&M. Syracuse, Boston College, Vanderbilt and Pitt also were on his short list.
WR EJ Williams of Phenix City, AL has Alabama one and Clemson two at this point according to 247Sports which spoke with Williams at Sunday’s check-in at The Opening Finals in Frisco, TX. Williams took official visits in June to LSU and Auburn. He also plans to take a visit to Alabama in late July, and he plans to return to Clemson for the All-In Cookout as he zeroes in on his decision to be announced August 24th.
Another check-in interview conducted by 247Sports highlighted Clemson target TE Arik Gilbert of Marietta, GA, who said Alabama and Georgia had been recruiting him the hardest.
USC target RB Tank Bigsby of Hoganville, GA told the interviewers at the check-in that he will take an official visit to Georgia for the Notre Dame game. He took official visits to USC and Auburn in June. And another USC target who was interviewed, DE Reggie Grimes of Brentwood, TN, said he has set his official visit with Tennessee for the Georgia game October 5th. He has visited USC and previously set his official to Alabama for the Southern Miss game September 21st.
Former Miami commitment DE Donell Harris of Miami named a top five of Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and Texas A&M. He visited Clemson in June. Harris is reclassifying for the 2020 class.
Clemson is in the top eight with 2021 center Ryan Linthicum of Damascus, MD along with Michigan, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Ohio State, Virginia, North Carolina and LSU.
USC target 2021 QB Colten Gauthier of Dacula, GA said he does not plan to make his decision this summer and is looking more at the fall. ” Will be coming to a game this season (at USC) then will hopefully make a decision then.” His offers include USC, Miami, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Vandy, UCF, West Virginia, UCF, Syracuse, Kentucky, Colorado, Duke and Boston College.
Clemson made the top 12 with 2021 WR Agiye Hall of Plant City, FL along with Ohio State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Texas, Oregon, LSU, Arizona State, Ole Miss and Southern Cal.
USC made the top 15 with 2021 WR Demario Williams along with Arkansas, West Virginia, Alabama, Michigan, Arizona State, Georgia, Florida State, Oregon, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, LSU, Florida, Miami and Tennessee.
6-6 Raekwon Horton of Keenan has, in recent days, received offers from Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, Western Carolina and Norfolk State.
6-2 Caleb Murphy of Loganville, GA was offered by Clemson. He also has a Georgia Tech offer.
Florida offered 2021 7-0 John Butler of Christ Church.
Clemson and USC offered 2022 6-7 SF Julian Philips of Blythewood.
Coastal signed added 6-8 Essam Mostafa of Egypt, NY to its 2019 class.
2021 INF Gavin Abrams of Metuchen, NJ Sunday night committed to Clemson. Perfect Game wrote this review of Abrams following a 2018 showcase: Primary middle infielder, took reps in the infield with a high fielding position, developing hands out in front, could work more from the ground up funneling into body, longer strides up the middle, full arm action into throws with average arm strength, topped out at 77 mph across the diamond. Also pitched, crossfire delivery, short side step into windup to a high leg lift, long arm action up to an extended 3/4 slot, coils and bends at balance point, developing command of fastball, best when down in zone to glove side. Lefthanded hitter, even stance with a leg lift trigger, drift onto front side early at times, best when sitting back and hitting out in front, hits the ball out front with intent, comes off barrel when squared
2022 INF Keegan Knutson of Janesville, WI committed to USC. Perfect Game wrote this review of Knutson following a 2018 showcase: Primary shortstop, takes short steps to the baseball, hands play out in front, full arm action getting on top of throws into release, average arm strength with throws around the bag, topped out at 77 mph across the diamond. Secondary righthanded pitcher, pitches exclusively out of the stretch, long arm action up to a 3/4 arm slot, short stride down the mound, could utilize lower half more into delivery for added arm strength, lands closed. Fastball topped out at 74 with occasional life, curveball has 12-to-6 shape. Also took reps in the outfield and did so well, fields the baseball out in front coming through the ball with good energy, quick feet and and releases the baseball quickly, topped out at 81 mph from the outfield with plenty of accuracy to the bag. Righthanded hitter, very spread out stance with a high hand set to start, leg lift trigger, steep downhill plane to the baseball, gets the bat head out to a flat plane, showed some barrel ability up the middle, creates some bat speed but could loosen the swing some for more improved pop
