EJ Williams

Clemson is testing its recent success in Phenix City, AL again this recruiting season with WR EJ Williams. The last two recruiting classes brought to Clemson receiver Justyn Ross and safety Ray Thornton from one of Alabama’s top high school programs situated just down the road from Auburn. Clemson has been strong with Williams throughout, and he was back for another look during camp earlier this month and had the chance to work out with 2020 quarterback commitment DJ Uiagalelei.

“It was a great visit as always,” Williams said. “It was eye-opening to see a young quarterback like him throwing at such a high caliber. Basically they told me that they have a plan for me and if I trust them it will all fall into place,”

Williams took an official visit to LSU in early June and one to Auburn last week. He also plans to take a visit to Alabama. Those three join Clemson in his final four, and he’s planning a return trip to Tigerown next month for the All-In Cookout as he zeroes in on his decision to be announced August 24th.

“Honestly I will really have my mind made up in a few weeks,” he said. “I will feel very comfortable. I’ll have a good relationship with the coaches and have an opportunity to play as a freshman.”

Last season Williams had 40 catches for 668 yards and 9 touchdowns.
