Dietrick Pennington

It’s hard to miss 2021 OL Dietrick Pennington (6-5 330) of Cordova, TN when he’s on the football field. He was at Clemson this week for a camp session and he was quickly noticed by all, including the Clemson coaches. Pennington was impressive enough in front of line coach Robbie Caldwell and head coach Dabo Swinney that he went home with an offer from the Tigers.

“It was really exciting when Coach Swinney told me that I had an offer from Clemson,” Pennington said. “It was unexpected because I hadn’t heard from Clemson and my goal was to come to this camp, work my hardest, and compete. They told me that they liked the way that I could bend, that I was a natural athlete and that they liked the way that I could catch on to different things quickly.”

The recruiting process is just unfolding for Pennington who also has offers from USC, Georgia, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. But the Clemson offer really excited him.

“I like Clemson a lot,” Pennington said. “I’m looking forward to maybe getting back up there for some camps in the future.”

USC offered Pennington last month and the Gamecocks have a place at the recruiting table with him as well.

“Yeah, they offered around the end of the school year last month,” he said. “Hopefully I can get back down to South Carolina for some camps.

Pennington said he plans to go to a camp at Georgia later this summer and he also plans to attend a camp at Memphis.
