Running back Demarkcus Bowman (5-11 190) (Lakeland High School, FL) announced his commitment to Clemson Friday as part of the Tigers 2020 class. Bowman chose the Tigers over Florida and Georgia. He also had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia and othes.
The Florida Gators have a history of landing Lakeland High prospects, but Bowman chose Clemson after multiple visits to campus including a trip to the Orange and White Spring Game.
After visiting during the Spring Game weekend, Bowman named Clemson his leader.
“It was a good visit. I really wanted to go up there and take pictures in the all purple uniforms,” Bowman said. “That was pretty cool. Coach Elliott and Dabo (Swinney) are always nice to talk to when I get up there. And I watched the spring game again. I watched the spring game my sophomore year too. I really wanted to see what they have this year and I’m pretty sure they’re going back to the playoffs.”
Bowman said after a trip earlier this year to Clemson that he was also impressed with the inner workings of the football program. /
“They just do everything different up there,” he said. “Everything is organized and they do everything the right way.”
Bowman is one of the most coveted running backs in the country coming off a junior season of 2417 yards and 36 touchdowns. He gives the Tigers 13 commitments for their class and is the first running back for their 2020 class.
