#STRecruiting: #Gamecocks sit in top three with Virginia TE

Trey Boll

TE Trey Boll (6-4 220) of Richmond, VA has been a regular visitor to USC the last couple of years. His visit on Saturday was his fourth to the campus. Prior visits included camps and the Georgia game last season and involved then tight ends coach Pat Washington. This trip gave him the chance to meet up with new tight ends coach Bobby Bentley who is now handling his recruiting.

“I guess the biggest thing that stuck out was how nice the coaching staff was,” Boll said.  “I got to meet some of the commits and it already feels like a family down there.  Great atmosphere and obviously there’s nothing like playing football in the SEC.  I’d say it’s a culmination of a couple of great things for sure.”

Boll is a receiving tight end, one who can get down the field and help stretch a defense. He said Bentley noted to him that in their offense he would have the chance to catch some passes.

“They have told me I’m more of an athletic tight end,” he said.  “I can move around, run a couple of different routes, that kind of thing.  I need to get some weight on me though.  That’s probably the biggest thing right now.”

Boll said his decision at this point is down to USC, Virginia Tech and NC State with a decision in June. He said all three schools are pushing for him and there’s no leader at this point.

He visited Virginia Tech last week and also has been to State, Virginia and Wake Forest. He said he might visit Missouri this summer.

Some of his other offers are West Virginia, Indiana, Coastal Carolina, Pitt, Connecticut and Temple.
