Lowry on top of tight leaderboard at RBC Heritage

Ireland’s Shane Lowry, playing in just his second RBC Heritage at Harbour Town, fired a bogey free six under 65 Thursday and owns a one stroke lead over five others heading into Friday’s second round. Lowry was dialed in hitting 13 of 14 fairways and 14 of 18 greens. Of his six birdie putts, his longest was from 18 feet.

Lowry, who missed the cut at the Masters last week, is ranked 50th in the world rankings and is 253rd in the FedEx Cup standings. His lone appearance at Harbour Town was in 2017 when he finished T-44.

Hot on the heels of Lowry are Trey Mullinax, Daniel Berger, Luke List, Ryan Moore and Ryan Palmer. Each is five under. Eight are tied at four under and another 12 golfers are bunched a minus three including world #1 Dustin Johnson and former Clemson start Jonathan Byrd.

Weather is expected to be a major problem Friday. A 90 percent chance of rain is in the forecast for the afternoon with winds of 20-30 MPH gusting to 40 MPH.
