WR Julian Fleming (6-2 180) of Catawissa, PA has been working his recruiting from a final six of Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, Georgia and Oregon. His plan is to take his official visits and then make a decision. His first visit went down last weekend at Alabama. He was there for the spring game and got a good feel for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.
“It went really well, really got good treatment up there,” Fleming said. “I got to bond with a lot of the coaches and players. Overall, it was a really, really good visit.”
Fleming has only visited Clemson once, for a junior day in March. He got the full recruitment treatment from the coaches and players and all of that went over well with him.
“I loved the coaches,’ he said. “They’ve all been there for a really long time. Coach Dabo’s (Swinney) energy is for real and I like him a lot. I like Coach (Jeff) Scott a lot. I got to talk to Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross and heard about what it’s like as a player. I had a really good time. 100% very attractive. From the football aspect, they put a bunch of receivers in the league. They really develop them. Honestly, they develop great young men. You talk to some of the players and you can tell they are all intelligent and their good people. Clemson has done a great job of doing that.”
Fleming is a national level recruit and was able to get his list down to six so he could narrow his focus. But, that’s as far as he can go with it at this point.
“As of right now, I really haven’t narrowed it down any further, letting it go pretty slow,” Fleming said. “I’m taking a couple of my officials now. I just took my first one to Alabama. When it feels like home, it feels like home and that will be it. I’m kind of taking it slow and doing the process as of now. They are all recruiting me pretty hard. I talk to pretty much all the coaches every day. It’s a pretty equal battle. It’s just that home feeling for me and my family, too. They are sending me off to wherever it’s going to be so they have to feel I’m going to be safe within the place. They are sending me off to new parents.”
Fleming wants to take two more official visits in the summer and save the last two for Clemson and Ohio State. And he’s expecting Clemson coaches to be up to see him next week at a track meet.
According to stats from MaxPreps, in eight games last season Fleming had 45 catches for 777 yards and 10 touchdowns. For his career, he has 150 catches for 3195 yards and 43 touchdowns.
