#STRecruiting: Junior OL from Virginia enjoyed #Clemson visit

Colston Powers

Clemson has done some good recruiting work in the state of Virginia in recent year and one player the Tigers are starting to work in the 2021 class is OL Colston Powers (6-5 285) of Daleville. Powers visited earlier this month for the spring game and he got his first look at the program and the school.

“It was a great visit, they definitely have something special going on there which obviously everyone can tell from last years results, but you just get a different feeling there, and it’s great,” Powers said. “The coaches are very encouraging and excited about every recruit I feel like. I really only got to talk to (OL) coach (Robbie) Caldwell. Me and him had met before because he came down to my school last spring to offer Jesse Hanson, who is at Virginia Tech now, so me and him shook hands and talked a little last spring. So, he just said he loved what he was seeing so far, and that I was a young pup and he can’t wait to watch me the next year or so and get to know me more once my junior year comes around. He said they are very excited about me. So, all positive stuff coming out of Clemson.”

Powers said his offers at this point are from Virginia and Coastal Carolina. He has been to Tech several times. He’s also visited Wake Forest, Tennessee and Liberty and is planning to visit Duke and Virginia. He’s also looking at attending several camps this summer.

Powers would like to see Clemson added to his offer list.

“It just sets up another great option hopefully to come in the future when my decision is made,” he said.

One of Powers’ teammates in the 2021 class, RB Hunter Rice (5-11 220), also is drawing interest from Clemson.
